Some hot topics this week . . . whether it’s disruptive students or font requirements in student papers, there’s been much to discuss:
- Julie explained how to manage your Facebook privacy settings and avoid Twitter spam. Less usefully, I revealed some of my worst e-mail habits. I announced a new Mozilla add-on competition, and called for a ProfHacker-organized team.
- Billie kicked off a new, comment-heavy series on “Disruptive Student Behavior,” while I looked for simple ways to tweak group work, and Amy wrapped up the week by observing that growing up immersed in technology doesn’t mean you know how to use it in an academically productive way.
- I pointed out that last week was Campus Equity Week, while Aimee L. Pozorski pointed out that shifting gears can be good for your productivity. Natalie suggested that, if you’re stressed, try counting backwards.
- ProfHacker will post your CFP, if it’s relevant.
- Standing posts: Billie explained the appeal of Bento boxes (and, separately, called for people to share their lunch gear) while I had zombies on my brain for weekend reading.

Why did you remove Amy Cavender’s post titled “On not assuming students’ technical skills”?
It’s still up: It’s the last link in the 2nd bullet. (And the link works–I just checked!)
There was a version of it that was published last Thursday, instead of Friday, but that was just a scheduling error.

Mea culpa. I was apparently having trouble reading schedules last week, and originally posted a day early.
That marks the first time in a long time that I’ve been early for anything!
